My name is Phil and I’m a Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I work relationally, which means building an authentic therapeutic relationship with you, based on empathy, honesty, and trust.
At the heart of my work is a belief that each person carries the capacity for growth and change. I aim to create a calm, respectful, and compassionate environment where you can feel heard and understood; to offer you a space where you can feel safe enough to explore any challenges that you’re facing.
I have experience supporting people who have lived through complex and challenging circumstances, including men recovering from homelessness and trauma. I approach this work with care, sensitivity, and strong ethical boundaries, and I regularly engage in supervision and reflective practice to support my ongoing development as a therapist.
I hold a Master of Psychotherapy Counselling (Western Sydney University), a Bachelor of Engineering (Stellenbosch University) and a Certificate in Brain-Based Coaching (Neuroleadership Institute). Before moving into Counselling, I worked for 23 years in multinational engineering and corporate industries as an Engineer and People Leader.
Whilst my work today is very different, that background has shaped the way I listen and stay present in difficult conversations. I bring a grounded, thoughtful approach to therapy and respect the courage it takes to seek support.
